Mother's Day Weekend (better late than never )

I had a wonderful Mother's Day weekend...

Mom and Gabby and I went to the Mother's Day Luncheon at our church (this has been a tradition since the early 90's)

On Sunday...

We had the family over for a brunch which was very fun and yummy!

Gabby picked out the perfect gifts for me...the perfect pink shirt and a Starbucks card and the dogs got me my traditional fuchsias for my front porch.
Then Sunday evening we went to Teresa's sister Terri's to meet her new niece whom had just arrived from China the day before.

Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus

As we get ready to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus this Sunday this song keeps goin through my head.

O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkens you see?
There's light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free!

Refrain
Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.

Through death into life everlasting
He passed, and we follow Him there;
O'er us sin no more hath dominion -
For more than conquerors we are!

His Word shall not fail you-He promise;
Believe Him, and all will be well:
Then go to a world that is dying,
His perfect salvation to tell!

Lyrics by Helen H Lemmel, 1922 (Public Domain)

This is my prayer for us and all of you.

Christma and the new year

We went to Teresa's brother's on Christmas Eve. We had a lot of fun watching the kids and eating the very yummy prime rib dinner that Steve made.

On Christmas Day we started out at home having our own celebration and then went to Scott's folks house to celebrate with them and Scott's sister Carol. We ate lots of yummy food that day as well.

New Years was pretty low key. Gabby went over to the church and rang in the new year with friends there, while Scott and Teresa stayed home and relaxed.
On the 2nd of January we replaced our old accord which Scott had been using for his commute and it was really hurting his back.
Then on the 4th we all went back to our normal schedules of work and school.

Lefsa Party 2009

Every year Teresa's family get together and make lefsa. (Lefsa is likie a tortillia only made with mashed potatoes and flour).

We enjoy the time together and of course the yummy lefsa!

The only down side was that not everyonbe was able to be there and that Gabby & Scott both have scratchy throats. We ar ehopeing it's just allergies.

Catch-up

Since the last posting we have celebrated Thanksgiving with Scott's family. His sister Carol and niece Jill cooked a wonderful dinner and his mom made some YUMMY pies!

This was one of the pies it was a fudge pie we all LOVED it. The others were good too but this was our favorite.
The tree of us were unanimous that the two things we are most thankful for this year are that fact that God spared my life this past summer and provided Scott with a new job which he started on December 1st!

This is a picture of him on his first day at Pacific Lutheran University. He is working in IT still. His first two weeks were quite busy as he finished up his finals at school and started his job with a 35 minute commute each direction. All in all it is going well and we are looking forward to Christmas and the New Year.

The last week or so...

Scott and I were able to get away overnight to Seattle last Friday then spent some time at Pike Place Market on Saturday. We went to the original store so that I could see if my iced mocha was as good as I though it was with the older machines that they used to use.
Then on Sunday we went to our church's annual Thanksgiving Family Feast. It was a lot of fun. Our entertainment was a talent show put on by members of our congregation.

And last of all I received the recipe from The University of Washington hospital for their Creamy Baked Macaroni & Cheese. Which I made on Monday and it was YUMMY! :)

Off the roller coaster......at least for now.

Well it appears that we are off of the roller coaster that we've been on for the last 9 months. Scott has accepted a job offer from PLU and will start his new job on Dec. 1. Praise the Lord!

Teresa got the all clear from the neurosurgeon on Tuesday so she won't have to go back for 1 year to see him.

Gabby is mid way through her first quarter of college and seems to be having fun and doing well in her classes. She is still looking for a job as well.

Thank you to everyone who has been praying for us and who have supported us during these past few months. We are very thankful for all of you!

I can't believe she is already 19!!!

We've spend the last couple of days celebrating Gabby's birthday. On Friday we went to the Old School Frozen Custard with Scott's sister Carol then on Saturday we went to Teresa's step-sister Terri's for dinner to celebrate all of the October birthdays with that part of the family. (There are 7 of them)

Teresa & her dad (we forgot to get pictures)

Then tonight Gabby opened her present before we went to the Old Spaghetti Factory with Teresa's mom and step-dad for dinner.

These last two pics are from dinner us and then Gabby with Grandma Barb & Pappa Jerry

Life has been busy for both Scott and Gabby since they started school on Sept. 21st and Teresa has been back at work (part of her hours) for the last few weeks.

We are thankful for the blessings and opportunities to celebrate!

Adoption Day 2009

Six years ago today Gabby's adoption was finalized! The time has gone very quickly!

With everything that has been going on we kept the celebration kind of low key this year and just went out to Red Robin for lunch but we enjoyed our time together.

The other thing that we are celebrating is that Gabby's diploma arrived today! Yeah!

Job search...Foot Infection...And brain surgery...OH MY!

It has been a very LONG time since I have posted... Life has been interesting around here for the last month and a half to say the least.

Scott is still in the process of looking for a job...

On July 4th Gabby injured her foot by hitting it on a dock post while swimming. It got infected which caused a lot of "excitement" because Teresa went into the hospital on the 5th of July and had brain surgery to have an abscess removed on July 6th.

This of course left Scott to take care of two pretty much incapacitated people. This also included giving Teresa intravenous antibiotics for the first month that she was home.

Thankfully our church family and our families helped out bringing meals and Teresa's mom came over and helped with house work and running errands.

Gabby's foot healed very well and she is up and about on it with out any problems.

Teresa had one set back on August 6th she went back into the hospital because she was running a fever again but it turned out to be "drug fever" which is when the body has an allergic reaction to the medication. So after running multiple tests they determined that she could go home and then that fevers were caused by the meds so they changed them.

Things seem to be going well again. We will keep you posted.

Thank you to all of you who have been praying for us!

Getting our house in order...

In the last week we have:

Picked out paint for our accent walls in the living/dining room, master bedroom and master bathroom

Painted the living/dining room accent walls

Had Teresa's mom over who sewed all of the valances for the kitchen and nook area and Gabby's bathroom

Started painting in the bedroom (which of course includes moving a lot of stuff and the furniture, vacuuming and shampooing the carpets and painting the ceiling as well as the walls)
So here are a few pictures of the results:

Recap of the last few weeks...

We've been quite busy the last couple of weeks!

We celebrated Mother's Day twice :) We celebrated on Mother's Day with Scott's mom and then the following week with Teresa's mom.

We forgot to take any pictures at Scott's parents so we'll have to make up for that later.

Here are a few pictures from the week after.
This past weekend Gabby ended up playing in the Advanced Recital. She wasn't originally supposed to play but the other person who was supposed to play the piece backed out at the last minute and so she was asked if she wanted to play. Which meant putting in 9 hours of practice on the one piece between Thursday afternoon and Saturday afternoon at the recital (she had been working on the piece originally the 9 hours was to polish it so that it was performance ready in less than 3 days). She did an AMAZING job! Click on the recital video links to hear her performances from this year. (She's wearing a multi colored dress in the one from this past Saturday)

Here's a picture of her with her friend Keenan who also performed on Saturday

Then on Sunday afternoon we went and spent a few hours over at Scott's sisters enjoying her company and being out in the sun by the lake. Gabby even went swimming.

To wrap up our eventful weekend Monday we went to Salt Water State Park and enjoyed the really low tide by wandering the beach and investigating the tide pools.
